RE: The tariff classification of flexible copper braid jumpers from Mexico.

Dear Ms. Wallett:

In your letter dated January 3, 2008, you requested a tariff classification ruling. A sample was submitted along with descriptive literature.

The articles you plan to import are described as flexible copper braid jumpers. These jumpers are made of tinned, pure copper wire woven and flattened into a rectangular shape for greater flexibility and include seamless, pure copper ferrules formed and assembled on each end. They are designed to take up linear expansion and contraction, compensate for misalignment and absorb vibratory movement of electrical equipment and devices.

The applicable subheading for the flexible copper braid jumpers will be 7413.00.9000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for stranded wire, cables, plaited bands and the like, including slings and similar articles, of copper, not electrically insulated, fitted with fittings or made up into articles. The rate of duty will be 3 percent ad valorem.

Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).

A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If you have any questions regarding the ruling, contact National Import Specialist Gloria Stingone at 646-733-3020.

Sincerely,
